We are recruiting for 2 Community Participation Support Workers in Orillia. Utilizing a personal outcome based approach, support people in making informed choices that lead to successful inclusion and participation in community based recreational/leisure activities; work/volunteer placements. These positions work up to 63 hours biweekly, with a rate of pay of $21.89 per hour.  


  • Degree or Diploma in developmental services or a closely related field;
  • One year recent work experience working in a community setting supporting the integration of people supported through outcome based approach
  • Valid class G driver's license and reliable transportation is required;
  • demonstrated knowledge of community resources;
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated

      experience in Microsoft office applications and database administration;

  • good interpersonal skills;
  • current valid certificates in First Aid, C.P.R. and N.V.C.I.

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES: (not inclusive of all duties):

  • facilitate and support participation in meaningful community based activities which support individuals to develop skills utilizing community infrastructure such as transportation services to promote and develop leisure, recreational, employment and volunteer opportunities within the community;
  • participating in goal planning with people and attending individual planning meetings as requested and supporting people to attain their desired goals;
  • assisting people to maintain positive relationships and to facilitate independence in volunteer placements and competitive employment; providing job coaching as required;
  • facilitating positive involvement and interaction in the community, acting in a professional manner at all times and as a role model for people supported;
  • supporting people to successfully transition from school;
  • providing personal hygiene supports as necessary;


  • the needs of this program require flexibility as support needs are based on people's individual needs and community partner requirements as identified by the community partners;
  • will be required to work flexible hours which will include working evenings, weekends and public holidays;
  • regularly scheduled sixty-three (63) hours or less, averaged over a two (2) week period. Hours worked beyond the originally scheduled hours to address sudden unanticipated needs of individuals supported and to fill in for other employees who are absent shall not be counted in determining whether a person is a part-time employee or a full time employee;
  • a two (2) week schedule will be posted no later than fourteen (14) calendar days in advance of taking effect;
  • providing support to individuals within the Accommodations program (group living and Supported Independent Living) and CSS 4 King Street when participants needs have changed during employee's scheduled hours, where they do not require support in this program and as directed by the Supervisor/Manager.
  • employer shall endeavour to arrange schedules so as to provide that no CPSW employee is scheduled to work more than every other weekend. If that is not operationally possible or during times of increased needs of individuals and community partners, the Employer will arrange schedules to provide that no employee is scheduled to work more than two (2) consecutive weekends;
  • this is a unionized position;
