We are one of the largest accredited community living organizations in Ontario providing services through a variety of programs which include; Accommodations Services and Community Support Services in the Barrie and Orillia areas and a variety of programs that support children and families. We are presently accepting resumes for 1 permanent full-time Senior Financial Analyst. This position will be responsible for the preparation of financial reporting for the Board and funders of the Agency, financial analysis, projection and budget preparation. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position will be responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating financial projects to create efficiencies for the Finance department and across the Agency. This position works up to 37.5 hours per week, with a wage rate of $32.04 per hour.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB INCLUDE:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting or a related field. A professional accounting designation (CPA, CA/CMA/CGA) or enrolment in the program is an asset;
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience, preferably in a non-profit sector;
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and decision making skills combined with ethical judgement;
  • Strong leadership and project management skills;
  • Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with other departments and agencies to facilitate continuous development of effective financial supports;
  • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Not for Profit Accounting Standards, financial software and Excel;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • A valid class "G" driver's license and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

  • Prepare, monitor and review annual budgets in collaboration with department Manager and Directors;
  • Prepare fiscal projections in collaboration with department Managers and Directors;
  • Assist or complete, when required, in the preparation of financial statements for the Board;
  • Maintain the integrity of the financial data by providing guidance and direction to ensure accuracy;
  • Prepare financial analysis, including evaluating proposed operational changes, trends, or significant variances to assess financial implications and provide consultation and advice to Managers and Directors;
  • Research best practices and identify opportunities for the continuous enhancement of financial reliability and reporting;
  • Assist in or prime the implementation of new processes and/or systems including testing, developing work plans, completing process documentation and evaluating outcomes;
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with other Agency programs and departments to facilitate continuous development of effective financial supports;
  • Review and approve the work of the financial services assistants prior to posting and/or uploading to financial systems
  • Ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislated accounting standards, collective agreements, agency policies and standards of practices; Provide backup for Finance Manager and other financial duties as required.

 

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

  • Salary grid: Grade 17 ($62,478 to $72,248)
